LizLiz Lever, a sophomore majoring in psychology and English at Mizzou, will be returning to Colorado this summer for her second LT. She took some time to share a little about her experience and why she decided to return.

What did God do in your life last summer at LT? God did way more in my life then I could cram into an answer of appropriate length. Even in just deciding to go, He started teaching me to trust Him more. He challenged me to take on something that wasn’t entirely comfortable, and then while I was out there, He began teaching me to live with more intentionality and more purpose in the day-to-day, everyday

What was your biggest highlight from LT 2007? There were so many amazing things that happened. One thing that just blew me away was the depth of relationships God blessed me with as I got to know different people in the LT program and people who were out in Colorado for completely different reasons.

Last summer you decided to try to memorize 99 verses from a list that John Drage created. How has that affected you? As I was doing it, it taught me a lot about how to be disciplined and faithful to a goal. But it also helped me fall in love with the Scriptures in a new way. Now that I have verses memorized, it’s like little bits of truth swimming around in my head, and they are so quickly and easily accessible. I mean, things will happen and verses will just come to mind. How cool is that? I love it.

Working in housekeeping, what was your favorite food that you found in a room to eat during break? Well, at break we bring all the food the crews found all day into the housekeeping office, and one day I found vanilla ice cream and egos. So I made this amazing ice cream/eggo sandwich… and the eggos were toasty and warm… mmmmmm. So good!

What made you decide to return this summer? I am going back to LT because I feel like God is leading me that direction, and I want to be faithful to that. I know that what He has in store for me out there will be even better then anything I could try to dream up for myself. I just want to try and go with His plan for my life the best I can.

How would you describe the LT experience? I think it is hard to explain, and I know it’s different for everyone. But I think that God tailors everyone’s experience just for them. He will teach you. He will challenge you. He will grow you. But all that stuff just looks different for different people.

Describe the scenery and the chances you took to go explore/play in it. Well, it’s amazing. I mean, there was one day I was hiking Long’s (Long’s is the highest point in Rocky Mountain National Park at 14,259 feet), and I stopped and looked out and as far as I could see, there were mountains. The view just blew my mind. I couldn’t even take it all in. It was just that incredible. But I had those moments even just sitting on the porch of the Administration Building looking around at what I was surrounded by. It never got old or dull the whole summer.
